Tangkeng Scenic Area

Tangkeng, located in the Shangou Scenic Area, is actually just a place name. Most of the local residents have the surname Tang, and the valley names in the area generally include the character ‘keng’, such as Doumen Keng, Chaofu Keng, Heng Keng, Han Keng, and Lincun Keng. Hence, it is called ‘Tangkeng’.

The Tangkeng Scenic Area is divided into two routes. Route A is famous for its peculiar rocks, sheer cliffs, and the continuous eighteen waterfalls known as the ‘Eighteen Waterfalls Reaching the Sky’. Route B, known as the Tai Chi Eighteen Ponds, is characterized by its numerous ponds, rocks, and rift valleys.

The main attractions here include the ancient thousand-year-old camphor trees, the intriguing ‘Immortal Chess Match’ rocks, the unending ‘Eighteen Waterfalls Reaching the Sky’, and the Twin Streams Pavilion where two streams meander through. The scenic area is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.
