Located on the west side of the First Seawater Bathing Beach, Qingdao Underwater World is a themed venue showcasing the underwater environment and marine life. Here, you can not only observe many live marine animals and biological specimens but also enjoy spectacular underwater performances, making it an ideal destination for family visits.
Starting at the Dream Jellyfish Palace, you will witness thousands of jellyfish displaying their splendor under the illumination of lights. Then, proceed to the seal pavilion to see the charming seals, sea lions, and penguins. In the richly collected Marine Specimen Hall, you can view various marine life specimens such as sperm whales, swordfish, and sea turtles.
Next, the fully underground ‘Underwater World’ hall will provide you with a 360-degree underwater visual experience. You can walk through the transparent underwater tunnel, feeling the fish swimming around you, or watch tropical fish like clownfish swimming around corals through cylindrical tanks. The real underwater performances in the Marine Theater are also very popular, where you can enjoy thrilling ‘Man and Shark Dance’ and the beautiful and dreamy ‘Mermaid’ performances, sometimes also witnessing humorous skits performed by divers underwater.
After learning about marine life, you can end your visit at the Freshwater Life Hall to see rare freshwater creatures such as arapaima, Chinese sturgeon, and baby fish, and admire the grace of these ‘living fossils’. There are multiple exhibition halls in Qingdao Underwater World, and the visiting route is one-way, with no return path. Enter from the south entrance on Laiyang Road and exit from the north side of Laiyang Road.
