It has a total length of 670 meters, a width ranging from 109 to 237 meters, an average depth of 15.6 meters, an area of 10.8 square meters, and a water volume of 1.8 million cubic meters. It is a glacial barrier lake and is named after pandas’ activities here. The water level changes seasonally with a variation range of 5 to 7 meters. Pandas are often seen here. Under the sunlight, the ripples of Panda Sea reflect brilliant colors, giving people a mesmerizing feeling. It is said that there were giant pandas in Jiuzhaigou. They liked to wander, drink water, and forage here the most. Therefore, this place is also called Panda Sea. When a gentle breeze blows, layers of cyan ripples appear on Panda Sea. Mountain shadows, tree shadows, and human shadows are momentarily engulfed by these ripples. However, the ducks on the water surface are not affected at all and still swim leisurely on the water.
