The building’s exterior is marked by traditional characteristics, such as upturned eaves and corners, and is adorned with glazed yellow tiles. The villa’s courtyard features a rockery and fish ponds, with beautiful stalagmites and lush greenery. Facing south, Yiyunjilu is surrounded by gardens at the front and back, and passages on the left and right.

A picturesque stone pavilion is nestled in the northwest corner of the property. The front facade of the building is graced by eight Ionic columns, while the exterior wall is finished with a yellow cement texture. The flooring is terrazzo, and the corner stairs, carved handrails, wall panels, and floor doors and windows are all crafted from wood, painted a striking vermilion.
